Every “best camera settings” list on the internet is someone’s pro config with no explanation of why those numbers work for them. Here’s what each setting actually does, so you can tune it for your own eyes instead of guessing.
FOV (Field of View)
Range: 60–110. Higher FOV shows more of the field at once (better awareness of rotations and incoming plays) but shrinks the ball and distant cars, which can hurt shot precision. Most competitive players sit at 100–110. If you’re newer and still building spatial awareness, start at 100 rather than maxing it; the extra field visibility matters more early than the aim precision you’d be trading for it.
Distance and Height
Distance (default 270, common range 260–300) controls how far the camera sits behind your car. Height (default 100, range 80–150) sets how high above the car it floats. Lower distance + lower height puts you closer to “in the cockpit,” which some players find gives tighter ball-feel; higher distance + higher height gives a more zoomed-out tactical view. There’s no universal correct answer: this is genuinely about what your brain parses faster.
Angle
Controls camera tilt. Most players run this between -3 and -5. Steeper negative angles look more down at the ball, which some find helps with dribble control; flatter angles favor long-range shot reads. Test both for a session each before deciding: the difference is subtle enough that a single match won’t tell you anything.
Stiffness and Swivel Speed
Stiffness controls how tightly the camera “sticks” to your car’s rotation: higher stiffness means less camera lag, which most competitive players want because it keeps the camera predictable during fast direction changes. Swivel speed controls how fast the camera can rotate to follow ball-cam. Both benefit from being higher than default if you’re finding the camera feels “behind” your inputs during fast plays.
Ball Cam: keep it on, always
This isn’t a settings tweak, it’s a mandatory habit. Ball cam automatically points your camera toward the ball. Playing without it means manually tracking both the ball and your car’s position, which is strictly harder and offers zero benefit at any rank. If you’re not using ball cam, that’s the single highest-leverage change you can make today, full stop.
